Using Muryō

1a. CATALOG ANYTHING
Stop using multiple notebooks to keep things organized, write freely and use Muryō to search through your notebook like a web app. Tag your entries, journals, business meetings, drawings, and school notes with keywords by marking the edge of the page. Then, find it later by lining up the catalog with the edge of the notebook.

1b. FIND EVERYTHING
Once you get used to cataloging your notes, journal entries, drawings, and everything else you put in your notebook, you’ll see how easy it becomes to find everything you’re looking for.

2. VISUALIZE YOUR MOOD
Specialized notebooks will have you track your mood like you’re filling out forms at the DMV while making it impossible to visualize the data over time. However, Muryō is about freedom and focus, so track your mood each day or multiple times a day simply by marking the edge of the page. Then, tilt your notebook to see how your mood has changed over time.

3. MONITOR YOUR SLEEP, CALORIES, SMOKING, SALES, OR ANYTHING ELSE
We can track anything with the same mood tracking technique. So whether you’re counting sheep, cigarettes smoked, miles run, or sales call made, Muryō will work for you. First, define the parameters in the circular labels, mark the edge of the page, then tilt your notebook and see how you’ve done over time.

4. TRACK YOUR MILESTONES
Milestones are significant events. Maybe you signed that deal, ran your first marathon, or had a brilliant idea. Using a title and a date, milestones remind you of what you accomplished each month. In a sea of distractions and second guesses, it’s vital to keep these events top of mind and front and center.

5. STAY FOCUSED
A notebook is a sanctuary for our thoughts and ideas, safeguarded by pages and hardcovers. Yet, when you dedicate a single page to outlining goals or tracking habits, you’re losing your focus. That page is immediately lost to you, and flipping back and forth between what you’re working on and your designated page is a pain.
Muryō pops up on your desk right in front of you. Serving as a constant reminder of what you hope to achieve. The front of the card breaks down your mission into tangible achievable goals and habits present at all times.

6. CREATE A MISSION
With each new card, you have an opportunity to reflect on what you hope to achieve. Whether it’s a lifelong goal or something you want to accomplish in the next few months. Think about a larger mission for yourself and write it down on the top of your Muryō card. This mission will help you define your goals and develop powerful habits.

7. ACHIEVE MONTHLY GOALS
Think about goals you can set for yourself to help you achieve your mission. For example, if your mission is all about getting that big promotion at work, your goals should be things you can do to gain the necessary experience and proof that you’re ready to move up. Your Muryō card has room for 3 – 6 goals which is the perfect amount that you should hope to achieve in a month.

9. ARCHIVE MURYŌ
Archive your Muryō card by attaching it to the next blank page in your notebook. Each Muryō set will come with stickers you can use, or you can tape it, glue it, or staple it. Once archived, your Muryō card will preserve your catalog, milestones, tracking, and goals. You’ll keep your history organized while you start fresh with a new card for a new month. Imagine years in the future a bookshelf full of notebooks where nothing is lost to time or the chaos of thousands of unmarked pages.
